Ms. Crystal Two Hearts
Owner, Eternal Bloom Blankets
Tribal Affiliation: Spirit Lake Nation

Crystal Two Hearts is an Indigenous Sewing Artist based in Bismarck, North Dakota, a resident for 25 years. Her ancestry comes from the northern Great Plains. She is a member of the Spirit Lake Nation on her father’s side (Dakota), with her mother being from the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe (Lakota). She specializes in Star Quilts, Handbags, Star quilt bags, ribbon skirts & shirts, wallets, tapestries, baby bags and blankets, and much more.

Crystal draws upon her own heritage as an inspiration.

“The art and beauty of my culture, the customs and traditions, the regalia of the dancers at our powwows. All the creations which we hold sacred, from the earth to the sky, and the stars especially. Mother Earth’s sunrises, sunsets, the changing colors of the land and being along the water. Sounds crazy, but sometimes I will find a space to sit by the river and think about the next project.”

Crystal learned her quilting skills from her own daughter’s paternal grandmother. She plans to pass along this skill to her daughter in the future. Wanting to form a connection between her business and family, she drew upon her daughter Aiyana’s name that means eternal flowering/forever blossoming as inspiration for the name of her company, Eternal Bloom Blankets.

In 2023 she received an award from the Quilts on the Red River Quilt Show in Grand Forks, ND. The category was wearable arts and received second place. Crystal was also featured in the quilting magazine, Make Modern. Crystal loves charitable work and making donations to worthy causes. Often, she will make items for organizations to use to raffle off and raise money.

Along with the Sacred Pipe Resource Center, Crystal was one of several organizers of the successful inaugural Star Quilt Show in Bismarck, ND on November 2nd, 2024. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, and two cats. She’s also an avid Minnesota Vikings and Twins sports fan.
